Unbridled Obsession Can Cause Such Chaotic Insanity.
If you’ve read the first two books, you know that the very first time I saw her apartment it was like walking into the new location for the landfill. Concern immediately plagued me at the possibility that one or more of her past roommates might be buried in the hurricane of destruction and…. didn’t she say she had a dog? Why yes, she did say that. Though, despite my cleaning efforts, I never did find the dog. The reality of it is that I should have feared for my own safety and sanity because like the scattered disaster area that was before me, it was the same situation in the deep trenches of her mind that dropped off into a darkened abyss. Both the door to her apartment and her brain should have been roped off with yellow CAUTION tape.

Where did it go wrong? When did it go wrong? Every story has a beginning and as such, every story has an end. The answer to where and when it all went wrong was the day I WILLINGLY let her into my life, because what I didn’t know was that her obsession with me had started long before I could possibly have imagined.
Each day, in and out of the office, we’d say hi in passing and on more than a rare occasion, I’d spend a good deal of time in her office going over paperwork, client demographics and schedules for the professional staff, for which we both worked. It would be more than a year after I left and settled into my new position that our PROFESSIONAL paths would cross again. We kept moderate contact after I departed, via Facebook. This would be where she would forever change the path of my life. It would be the night that she asked for an opportunity to come work for me. I didn’t pick up right then on “come work for me,” as it happened I had positions open and she had been rather efficient, bright, bubbly and an all around good person when we had worked together previously. I thought “What Could Go Wrong?” Had I been thinking, I’d never have considered her, would have ignored the message, would never have interviewed her, accepted her application or hired her. Had I had a crystal ball that would have shown me even brief snippets of what the future would hold with the prospect of her in it, I would never have taken that path.
Have you ever been watching a movie and as it played out you wondered why she didn’t RUN! Why she kept answering the phone after hearing a creepy voice say “What’s your favorite scary movie?” Or why someone didn’t just call the police after they found the body, instead of hiding it? The answer is, if they had, there’d never been a movie. The same applies to my situation. If I had foreseen the future, there’d never have been this book to entertain and astound you with.
So, as we embark on our final journey together, reminiscing over the hellish, nightmare ordeals that I have been through, much like some of my contributors, I bid you welcome as you turn the first of the last pages into HER deep~seeded, dark OBSESSION.

CHAPTER ONE
MARCH: THE MOVE
Page 5
So, it’s the beginning of March. The coffee is brewing, the birds are singing, the sun is shining and I’m curled up on my cream colored, leather loveseat, preparing to settle into a long day of doing nothing but getting lost in the writing fantasies of others. Opening the first page of my book and just beginning to dissolve into the pages, my cell phone rings shattering my thoughts, concentration and once I look up, I’m back in my cute little apartment and the woman who was running frantically for her life, would just have to wait, at the risk of being caught on my account.
“Hello?” I answered half curiously, half irritated. That’s alright, the good that came from the interruption in my reading was that my coffee was now ready and my caffeine gauge was below empty and the constant dinging in my head was no longer from the ringing of the phone but now the low caffeine indicator. Soon a warning alert would be accompanied by red flashes of irritation if I didn’t get the gauge up to full.
“Hey! So, I was thinking about our conversation last night and I can’t wait for you to move in!” CC Shouted excitedly at me. My first sip of coffee was sliding down my throat, warming me as it went. I felt a slight charge and was enveloped in the delicious aroma that had begun to

fill my senses. Perhaps, I can blame the tantalizing aroma of coffee, clouding my senses as an excuse for sheer stupidity.
“That’s great!” I agreed enthusiastically. (At the time, this was genuine because things were peachy-keen between us) I walked to my front door and opened it, allowing the fresh whoosh of morning air to collide with the aromatic coffee and caffeine indulged apartment. I happened to catch something silver out of the corner of my eye. Whatever it was, was behind my car and it was not blending in with the black of my Lancer. Hidden by the doorframe and a tree, I spied what appeared to be CC in her silver car. Puzzled, I stood there for a second, then shook my head. She was suppose to be at her first job this morning. How could she be in two places at once? Sometimes, I swear I am just not the brightest crayon in the box. There is no amount of education that can fix common sense stupidity. I was always lending stuff to people, perhaps I lent my common sense with it.
Shaking my head and thinking I was now imagining things due to the anticipation of once again running alongside the desperately fleeing woman whose life was now hanging in the balance because I decided to talk on my phone.
Page 7
“Yeah! So, that’s why I’m calling!” She practically shouted it at me. I had picked up my book and was fingering the sleek, cool-to-the-touch cover. My mind had begun to wonder back to her car wreck. Out of nowhere, she had suddenly lost control of her Explorer. When she awoke, her pounding head was against the steering wheel, smoke rose from the hood and a cold draft was hitting her. She sat up confused, the pounding in her brain nearly unbearable. She had to open and close her eyes several times in order to finally clear her vision. She glanced into her empty backset and then back out the broken windshield. Suddenly, panic gripped her! She practically spun around in her seat, the seatbelt choking her as she did. She fought to free herself. Once turned completely around, a blood curdling scream erupted from her bleeding lips.
“My baby!” She continued to scream. Leaping out of the drivers side door, she ran to the back passenger side that had the car seat and threw open the door. She stared at the empty floorboard that had traces of blood. Panicked, heart racing, she climbed into the backseat and looked over the top of the seats into the cargo area. Empty. Except for the babies bag. She shook with fear. Hanging her head out the door she vomited profusely. Still dizzy, she held onto the door for support. That’s when she

heard it. She held her breath as she listened closer. Footsteps. Quick footsteps. Run! Her brain screamed at her. With renewed strength, she scrambled across the seat and threw open the opposite door and fell to the ground in her hastened attempt to escape. The leaves crunched louder and the footsteps grew heavier as they neared. Slicing her hands and knees on rocks as she found her footing and pushed off, heading into the dead of night. All that was in front of her were woods. Low lying brush slapped her in the face as she ran, she tripped and fell over limbs buried beneath leaves that were nearly impossible to see in the pitch black darkness that surrounded her. Her already bleeding hands outstretched in front of her as she ran….
Page 9
She chanced fearful glances over her shoulder. Were they following her? She couldn’t hear anything over the whooshing sound and pounding in her head. Turning once again to check behind her would cost her dearly as she ran head on into a large tree, knocking her solidly to the ground. She lay there staring up at the pitch black sky. Her chest heaved up and down, her throat was dry from sucking in air as she ran, her lungs burned and she was fighting the urge to cough. That’s when she heard it. The crunching of leaves. She closed her eyes and said a prayer.
“Well she’s got to be here somewhere!” It was the first voice she had heard. A man. It was gruff and sounded like sandpaper. Then it struck her, he was not alone. It was confirmed when another voice answered her.
“Well we have to find her! She can’t be coming looking for no baby!” This time it was a woman. Tears began to fill the corners of her eyes. Her baby. Where was her baby? The footsteps stopped. Her heart pounded its way up to her throat and nearly out her mouth. Her fingers tightened against her jean clad legs. She felt warm ooze as her fingers grazed the wounds on her legs through the ragged tears in her new jeans. Had they found her? Sharp pains shot through her head as her thoughts raced. She heard footsteps again but they sounded like they were now leading away from her. She laid still for what seemed like hours but was only seconds. She sprang to her feet, practically leaping into the darkened air and…..
“Hello?” I frowned. Did she stop to answer her phone? Why the hell hadn’t she used it to call someone as she was running for her life? Good grief. Who wrote this! I wondered as my thoughts were once again jostled.
“Shaunna? Helloooooo?” I heard CC’s voice.
“Ye-yeah, sorry.” I answered as I stared at the book in my hands. Damn it, would she get away? Who would steal her baby? Where was the baby while they were chasing her? Who is she? Why is she running? A thousand thoughts raced through my mind. Well, clearly, she is running because she is being chased. (see, this is what I mean about common sense but in my defense, I’m lost to the woods that are slapping me in the face and I’ve just been assaulted by a tree. Give me a break would ya.”
Page 10
“Sorry hun, I was caught in the moment of my book.” I explained.
“Right, okay so how long haven’t you been listening to me?” She asked. I could hear slight irritation in her tone. I could answer honestly and ask how long she had been talking but that probably would not go over well.
“Well, I think I missed the end.” I hoped for the best.
“What was the last thing you heard?” She asked. I had planned for the worst. I bit my lip and pondered for a moment.
“Sorry, I ran into a tree and lost my train of thought.” I explained. I could almost picture the puzzled look on her face.
“Okay, are you feeling okay today? Should I come over?” She asked concerned. Damn it, that is the last thing that I wanted right now. I had to escape and find my baby!
“No, that won’t help anything.” I answered. It took her a second but she finally caught on.
“Are you reading?” She laughed.
“Well, I was.” I kind of giggled.
Page 11
“Understood.” She let out a laid back, understanding laugh.
“Alright are you focused now?” She tried again.
“Yes. Definitely.” I replied. In my defense, she did not ask specifically what I was focused on. I had been focused the entire conversation, just not on what she had been saying, but instead on the woman running for her life. (soon, this would be me, I just didn't know it yet.)
